Following our quarterly management meeting last week, I am pleased to announce that Axis Global will be implementing a comprehensive Green Office Initiative starting April 1. This initiative aligns with our corporate commitment to reduce our environmental footprint by 30% by 2028.
The new program will involve several key changes to our daily operations:
First, we will be transitioning to a paperless documentation system. The IT department will provide training sessions on the new digital filing system throughout the last two weeks of March. All employees are required to attend at least one session. Department heads should email Karen Hoffman in HR to schedule sessions for their teams.
Second, single-use plastics will be phased out of all office locations. The cafeteria will replace plastic utensils with compostable alternatives, and employees are encouraged to bring reusable containers and cups. To facilitate this transition, each employee will receive a complimentary reusable water bottle and container set.
Third, we are implementing new energy conservation measures. All computers and non-essential equipment should be powered down at the end of each workday. The facilities team will install motion-sensor lighting in common areas to reduce electricity usage.
These changes may require some adjustment, but our pilot program at the Seattle office demonstrated a 22% reduction in waste and a 15% decrease in energy costs over just three months. The financial benefits, alongside the environmental impact, make this initiative both practical and necessary.
Each department will appoint a "Green Ambassador" to help coordinate implementation and address concerns. Please submit your department's ambassador nomination to my office by March 25.
