概要
この文法は何か
関係副詞 where、when、why は、場所・時間・理由を表す名詞を修飾する関係詞です。前置詞+関係代名詞で言い換えることができますが、関係副詞の方が簡潔で自然です。
いつ使うか
場所（where）、時間（when）、理由（why）について説明したり、それらに関する情報を加えたりするときに使います。
作り方
場所/時間/理由の名詞 + where/when/why + 主語 + 動詞

場所の名詞 + where + 主語 + 動詞
This is the park where we first met.

when - 時間を表す
時間の名詞 + when + 主語 + 動詞
I remember the day when we graduated.

why - 理由を表す（通常 "the reason" と一緒に）
the reason why + 主語 + 動詞
That's the reason why I left.

学習のコツ
- 💡where の後には完全な文（主語+動詞）が来ます
- 💡the reason why では why を省略できます（"the reason I left" も可）
- 💡when の前の名詞は省略できることがあります（"I remember when..." など）
- 💡前置詞+関係代名詞より関係副詞の方が自然で簡潔です
- 💡where, when, why は副詞なので、その後に完全な文が続きます
文化的注意点
日常会話では、"the reason why" の代わりに単に "the reason" や "why" だけを使うことも多いです。
書き言葉では、"in which", "at which" などの形式的な表現も使われますが、関係副詞の方が一般的です。
よくある間違い
The place where I went there was beautiful.

where を使った場合、there は不要です（重複するため）。
The time when I was there then was great.
The time when I was there was great.
when を使った場合、then は不要です。
The reason why because I left is personal.

why と because を同時に使わないでください。

where の後に there を追加する必要はありません。
