Third Conditional
概要
この文法は何か
第三条件文は、過去の事実に反する仮定とその結果を表します。「もし（過去に）～していたら、…だっただろうに」という、実際には起こらなかった状況を表現します。
いつ使うか
過去に起こらなかったことを後悔したり、過去の異なる選択の結果を想像したりするときに使います。
作り方
If + 主語 + had + 過去分詞, 主語 + would/could/might + have + 過去分詞

- 3過去の事実に反する仮定を表す

ルールと例文
基本形: If + had + 過去分詞, would + have + 過去分詞
If + subject + had + past participle, subject + would + have + past participle
If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.
もっと一生懸命勉強していたら、試験に合格していたでしょう。
If she had known about the party, she would have come.
パーティーのことを知っていたら、彼女は来ていたでしょう。
If we had left earlier, we would have caught the train.
もっと早く出発していたら、電車に間に合っていたでしょう。
If they had invited me, I would have attended.
私を招待してくれていたら、出席していたでしょう。
could/might + have + 過去分詞を使った表現
If + had + past participle, subject + could/might + have + past participle
If I had had more time, I could have finished the project.
もっと時間があれば、プロジェクトを終わらせることができたでしょう。
If he had practiced more, he might have won.
もっと練習していれば、勝っていたかもしれません。
If they had been more careful, they could have avoided the accident.
もっと注意していれば、事故を避けられたでしょう。
否定形
パターン
If + 主語 + hadn't + 過去分詞, 主語 + would/could/might + have + 過去分詞
If I hadn't been late, I wouldn't have missed the meeting.
遅刻していなければ、会議を逃さなかったでしょう。
If she hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known.
彼女が教えてくれなければ、知らなかったでしょう。
If it hadn't rained, we could have had a picnic.
雨が降っていなければ、ピクニックができたでしょう。
注意: 否定形では hadn't を使います。

Would you have helped me if I had asked?
頼んでいたら、助けてくれましたか？

もっと時間があったら、どこへ行っていたでしょうか？
注意: 疑問文では主節を疑問形にし、if節は平叙文の語順を保ちます。

過去の想像・推測
過去の異なる状況を想像する
If dinosaurs hadn't gone extinct, the world would have been very different.
恐竜が絶滅していなければ、世界は全く違っていたでしょう。
If I had been born in a different country, I might have spoken a different language.
違う国で生まれていたら、違う言語を話していたかもしれません。

大学に行かなかったことを後悔しています。

事故について話す
Did you hear about the car accident?
車の事故のこと聞きましたか？
Yes. If the driver had been paying attention, it wouldn't have happened.
はい。運転手が注意を払っていれば、起こらなかったでしょう。
If someone had called an ambulance sooner, the injuries might have been less severe.
誰かがもっと早く救急車を呼んでいれば、けがはもっと軽かったかもしれません。

よくある間違い
If I would have known, I would have come.
If I had known, I would have come.
If節では would ではなく had を使います。
If she studied harder, she would have passed.
If she had studied harder, she would have passed.
過去の仮定なので If節には過去完了形（had studied）を使います。
If I had more time, I would have finished.
If I had had more time, I would have finished.
過去の仮定なので「had had」（過去完了形）を使います。
If he had came earlier, we would have left.
If he had come earlier, we would have left.
過去完了形では「had + 過去分詞」を使います。「came」ではなく「come」です。
